Description

In the old days, the "Suikoden" chronicled the saga of a band of outlaws who opposed the Japanese government, being in some ways the Asian equivalent of our Robin Hood. The story of the "Suikoden", with its message and image of heroism deeply touched the Japanese middle-class of the time. The latter so identified with the spirit of the story they started to sport the tattoos inspired by Kuniyoshi's etchings. These tattoos with symbols of valour and bravery, such as Tigers, marked a turning point around the 1800s by becoming the first tatoos in Japan with positive connotations. These limewood tattooed hands are handcrafted in our workshop.
